Teen Therapy

The developmental work of a teen is really hard work. It is a season of being in between childhood and adulthood, and there’s a lot to navigate in the work towards autonomy and separating from parents. Sometimes, teens decide for themselves that they want to talk with someone who isn’t their parent, and sometimes, parents bring teens to therapy because they feel concerned. Either way, we see our work as therapists to create a safe and confidential space for your kid to sort out what they need for themselves to move more freely towards adulthood. Sometimes parents are involved, and other times, we think it’s more fitting to let therapy just be for the teen. Our therapists work with candor and a lot of compassion to help teens and their parents sort out what is working and what isn’t working that brought them to therapy in the first place.

Adolescents are travelers, far from home with no native land, neither children nor adults…They don’t really fit anywhere. There’s a yearning for place, a search for solid ground.
